TrustArc & Alibaba Cloud Partner to Deliver Industry-Leading Privacy Platform to Businesses Expanding in Fast Growing Asian Markets

The partnership will bring TrustArc’s privacy compliance technology to Alibaba Cloud’s growing base of customers

San Francisco, CA (July 24, 2017) — TrustArc, the data privacy management company, today announced a partnership with Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, to bring TrustArc’s privacy compliance technology to Alibaba Cloud’s growing base of customers across Asia. The partnership was announced at the IAPP Asia Privacy Forum 2017, organized by International Association of Privacy Professionals, the world’s largest information privacy organization.

Under the partnership, TrustArc will offer its privacy platform on Alibaba Cloud infrastructure to provide businesses in Asia with a safe and efficient way to manage privacy compliance while minimizing the need to transfer information across international borders and corresponding regulatory requirements.  In addition to privacy consulting services for TrustArc and Alibaba Cloud customers, TrustArc’s Data Privacy Management Platform and compliance certification services will also be used by Alibaba Cloud as part of its global compliance structure.

TrustArc, the new TRUSTe, has been at the forefront of data privacy management for two decades. Global privacy requirements such as the European Union’s GDPR, China’s Cybersecurity Law, and Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information, along with increasing volumes of personal data collection are making compliance and risk management significantly more complex and expensive for organizations.

“Alibaba Cloud’s decision to use the TrustArc Privacy Platform and make it available through their global cloud service is another strong validation for our technology and we look forward to a long term, mutually beneficial relationship,” said Chris Babel, CEO, TrustArc. “Our partnership with them is an important step in our mission to enhance and streamline privacy compliance on a global basis as well as an expansion of our platform integration options.”

“As China’s largest cloud services provider and one of the fastest growing cloud computing companies in the world, it is imperative that we offer our customers the services they need to address their most complex IT challenges,” said Yeming Wang, Deputy General Manager of Alibaba Cloud Global. “Our partnership with TrustArc gives our customers access to industry leading privacy risk management technology to maintain the highest standards of data protection and privacy.”
