Jan. 28, 2014 – WALTHAM, Mass. — The Ethics & Compliance Officer Association (ECOA) announced today that in April it will offer a first-of-its-kind online professional development course serving the ethics and compliance field: ECOA Global Law.
ECOA Global Law is patterned after the professional association’s highly successful U.S. Law course. “We have received a very positive response to our U.S. Law offering over the past few years,” said Tim C. Mazur, the ECOA’s chief operating officer. “And now we are pleased to take the next step with a new course that helps meet the law-related needs of our members and others whose ethics and compliance programs operate globally.”
Global Law Offers a New Framework for Ethics and Compliance Programs
Jeff Kaplan of Kaplan & Walker LLP, a long-time practitioner in the field who led the development of both the U.S. and Global Law courses, added: “This new course will help equip E&C officers and other practitioners to confront the rising tide of laws from around the world that impact what global companies should–and shouldn’t–do in developing and implementing ethics and compliance programs. The highly accomplished faculty we have assembled is very well suited to assist companies in understanding how to meet this daunting task.”
The course faculty includes Paul McNulty and John Cunningham of Baker & McKenzie covering anti-corruption, money laundering and gifts and entertainment; Joseph Warin and Michael Diamant of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher on governance and securities; Richard Jones and Daryl Fairbairn of Clifford Chance on privacy and intellectual property; White & Case’s Don Dowling, Jr., covering employment law; Gönenç Gürkaynak of the Istanbul-based firm ELIG on competition law; and Jason Hungerford and Stefan Reisinger from Norton Rose Fulbright on export/import and trade sanctions.
The seven-week online course begins April 8. For more information please visit www.theECOA.org or contact Tsvetelina Teneva at +1 781.647.9333.
