German startup Sunhat raised €9.2 million in Series A funding led by CommerzVentures to expand an AI platform that helps enterprises validate and share ESG and regulatory compliance data. The round included participation from existing investors Capnamic, EnBW New Ventures, xdeck and WEPA Ventures.
Sunhat’s platform uses AI to automatically validate compliance documentation and generate responses to ESG questionnaires and audits, the company said in a news release. The system connects to existing enterprise platforms like SharePoint and specialized ESG management tools to capture and verify information, then generates ready-to-send responses for customers, investors and regulators.
“Enterprises don’t have a sustainability problem, they have a proof problem,” Lukas Vogt, CEO and co-founder of Sunhat, said in the news release. “Companies are meeting standards, building quality systems, and hitting sustainability goals. But when someone asks for proof, finding it and making sure it checks all the boxes takes too long.”
The Cologne-based company was founded in 2022, raising seed funding rounds in both 2024 and 2023.
