Mirakl, the enterprise marketplace SaaS platform, has acquired Octobat, a French startup specializing in enterprise invoice compliance. The acquisition, Mirakl’s first, is expected to make it easier for Mirakl marketplace operators to manage local and global regulations as they expand and operate across multiple geographies. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.
Mirakl’s purchase of Octobat comes just a couple of months after the company announced it had concluded a $555 million Series E funding round that brought Mirakl’s total valuation to more than $3.5 billion. Mirakl’s flagship enterprise marketplace platform is used by more than 300 of the world’s biggest brands.
By adding Octobat’s web application and API-based invoicing technology, Mirakl aims to help marketplace operators and dropshippers manage international expansion, which comes with a raft of compliance headaches, including tax regulation, region-specific formatting and content rules, and data storage and management requirements.
