Boeing (and the DOJ) need to get it right this time
Whitepaper
The Boeing Saga
What’s in this whitepaper from Tom Fox:
When it comes to corporate accountability, few cases are as significant as the ongoing litigation involving Boeing. Since the 737 Max safety scandal erupted in 2021, the company has been embroiled in a complex legal journey. In July, the DOJ filed a proposed plea agreement with Boeing under Judge Reed O’Connor in the District Court in Dallas. This filing stems from the original deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) in 2021, and it underscores some critical issues that every compliance professional should be acutely aware of.
Attorney and podcaster Tom Fox makes a bold pitch: The DOJ should appoint an omnibus compliance monitor to make sure that Boeing cleans up its act for good. As Fox writes, “The importance of Boeing to the U.S. and global economy cannot be overstated, nor can the tragic consequences of the company’s many deep failures. Boeing cannot compound its past mistakes by failing again on the world stage — and the DOJ must not allow it.”
