Supply chain sustainability management company Assent launched a software solution designed to help manufacturers comply with the EU Deforestation Regulation ahead of the Dec. 30 deadline. The platform combines AI-enhanced software with regulatory expertise to help companies assess their exposure and engage suppliers to collect data required for compliance, the company said in a news release.
The EUDR requires companies to prove that products entering the EU are deforestation-free, legally produced and traceable to the plot of land where raw materials such as rubber, wood, soy or cocoa were harvested. Companies that fail to meet requirements may lose market access in the EU and face fines of up to 4% of their European revenue.
“Assent is uniquely positioned to solve the scale and complexity challenges of EUDR compliance with our purpose-built software for manufacturers sourcing complex assemblies with indirect commodity risk,” Catherine Cormier, chief product officer at Assent, said in the news release.
