UK digital compliance provider SmartSearch has partnered with digital identity company Daon to integrate AI-powered biometric identity technology into its SmartDoc identity verification solution. The integration aims to reduce manual document reviews and improve first-time pass rates for customer onboarding processes.
SmartSearch, which provides anti-money laundering software to about 7,000 firms, will incorporate Daon’s facial recognition and liveness detection technology to prevent deepfakes and synthetic identities. The enhanced SmartDoc solution includes step-by-step guidance for users capturing ID documents and selfies, with built-in detection for issues like glare or blur that can cause verification failures.
“Financial criminals are fast, agile and quick to adopt new technologies to conduct and conceal their illicit activities,” Fraser Mitchell, chief product officer at SmartSearch, said in a news release. “This is why we have partnered with Daon, to assist, equip and empower companies in regulated sectors, enabling them to simultaneously fight crime and grow their business with confidence.”
