Optera has added AI-powered data ingestion capabilities to its emissions management platform, Operator, allowing users to upload raw energy bills that are automatically converted into auditable emissions data.
The feature enables users to upload up to 40 files at once in formats including PDFs, PNGs and JPGs, the company said in a news release. Operator uses AI and optical character recognition technology to extract data from the files, map information to facilities and time periods, and apply emissions values to the user’s inventory. Original source files are retained in the platform.
“Optera is focused on thoughtfully and surgically applying AI in highly specific situations where it supports dramatic time savings or improved insights for our clients,” Optera CEO and co-founder Tim Weiss said in the news release. “Automating the tedious work of bill data extraction is a clear case of value for this new technology.”
