Lab 1 has launched a file preview capability designed to allow businesses to safely view exposed files from data breaches within its platform, the company said. The London-based AI startup says the feature builds on its exposed data intelligence platform that uses AI agents to analyze breached datasets from the surface, deep and dark web.
Lab 1’s AI agents scrape breached datasets and extract file contents to identify an organization’s exposure, categorizing and summarizing files before matching them to organizations based on discovered data including domains, emails, IP addresses and customer information.
“Until now, businesses that wanted to find out whether their information is in exposed data sets would have to take on the security risks of downloading files to manually analyze or pay a cyber threat intelligence company to conduct the assessment,” Robin Brattel, co-founder and CEO of Lab 1, said in a news release. “The launch of file previews means that companies can not only be notified of their exposure in breaches they weren’t aware of, but they can also safely see the exposed files for themselves.”
The platform was designed to reduce the time needed to assess breached datasets for exposure and understand associated security, commercial or compliance risks. Lab 1 supports extraction and previews for various file types including documents, metadata from image and video formats, code and data files, and executable files.
