Exterro has developed a patent-pending solution enabling legal teams to remotely collect and review mobile device data without physical access to devices or installing software agents. The Remote Mobile Discovery tool will allow investigators to initiate collections through Exterro’s Data Risk Management platform with just a few clicks, the company said in a news release.
The new capability addresses longstanding challenges in mobile data collection that previously required organizations to physically gather devices or send staff to retrieve them. The solution works over Wi-Fi or network connections and supports dozens of commonly used applications including Discord, WhatsApp and iOS Messages.
“Mobile data discovery has become one of the most important and challenging aspects of data collection,” said Ryan O’Leary, research director, privacy and legal technology at IDC. “Exterro’s mobile data discovery software hopes to solve this challenge with its all-in-one solution for e-discovery and forensic investigations.”
