Across industries, corporate counsel faced an increase in regulatory disputes in 2022, and 2023 is expected to be another busy year, as agencies step up their enforcement of cybersecurity, white-collar crime, and labor and employment issues.
Norton Rose Fulbright’s survey of more than 400 in-house counsel found that 44% expect the volume of lawsuits to climb this year. Here’s a look at some other key findings:
- Half of GCs surveyed were involved in at least one regulatory proceeding in 2022.
- 48% say their firms were more exposed to labor and employment disputes in 2022.
- 35% expect regulatory proceedings to increase in 2023.
