Johannes "Jan" Scholtes
Johannes (Jan) C. Scholtes is specialized in text-analytics, information retrieval and natural language processing with application specializations in legal technology, regulatory overview, law enforcement and intelligence. Since 2008, Scholtes holds the chair in text mining from the Department of Advanced Computer Sciences at the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Maastricht. He co-created the Leiden Legal Technologies Program at Leiden University, a 26 full-day professional course from the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs and the Law Department of Leiden University. In addition, Scholtes teaches courses on artificial intelligence and law at the Leiden University Legal Post Academic Education and data science for governance at the Leiden Centre for Data Science. Scholtes is also chief data scientist at IPRO.
