Joanne O‘Donnell is a global regulatory and compliance lawyer with Compliance and Risks Ltd. An Irish qualified lawyer with over 11 years post qualification experience, she has vast experience in both private practice and in-house.
She previously worked with William Fry Solicitors, Dublin (one of Ireland’s top-tier firms) and has also worked as inhouse lawyer for medical device manufacturer Bio-Medical Research Ltd, as well as Schneider Electric.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor in Ireland in 2003, Joanne graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Legal and French) and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the National University of Ireland, Galway. She was subsequently one of three Irish students to be awarded a scholarship from the Swiss Government to undertake a two years masters programme in international law (LLM) at the prestigious Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, Switzerland. After completion of her masters, she was offered a role as legal officer with the United Nations where she remained for a further two years before returning to Ireland in 2000.
She has undertook a second Masters degree in French at the University of Limerick in 2005/6 and is a fluent French speaker.
Joanne has worked with Compliance and Risks since May 2011 where she has been involved with the provision of international legal compliance advice to a large selection of corporate clients in many areas including climate change, corporate and social responsibility, data protection; e-waste; energy efficiency; product safety; REACH; RoHS; hazardous substances. She has also been heavily involved in drafting of client specific market access reports to assist clients to understand the potential impact of proposed legislation and how this affects their development of new products and selling into new markets.
