With global economic uncertainty continuing, many observers fear companies will turn to unscrupulous or even illegal activities to bolster their bottom line. But a new survey from AlixPartners finds that the threat of corruption is well-understood and that most companies are working hard to support their anti-corruption efforts.
Here are some highlights from the consulting firm’s 2023 Global Anti-Corruption Survey:
- 56% of those surveyed said adverse economic conditions will probably increase the risk of corruption.
- 38% cited Russia’s war in Ukraine and sanctions as being likely to increase corruption risk.
- About 90% of companies are considering beefing up their anti-corruption program, including via technology and human means like culture and conduct initiatives.
