Position Summary

The Director of Risk Management will advise on and support the overall risk management strategy for C.R. England. Through benchmarking and in-depth analysis this role will implement innovative approaches to mitigate exposure and manage losses. Furthermore this role will be responsible to create and maintain partnerships with internal leadership and vendors.

  • Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, assists to develop the overall risk management strategy of the organization.
  • Reviews operations, recommends various means to manage organizational risk including changes to types and amounts of insurance or operational adjustments.
  • Reviews, recommends, and negotiates insurance policies regarding the various corporate lines of business.
  • Supports corporate efforts as to readiness and response to catastrophic accidents or damage as a result of company operations, or other events that threaten operational continuity.
  • Interacts with the Safety Department, Claims Department, Legal Department, and Human Resources to provide guidance and analysis regarding insurance, risks, and loss management.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a positive, collaborative, efficient, service-oriented manner.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 6 years minimum insurance experience. Employment with an insurer and/or transportation provider is strongly desired.
  • Strong property-casualty insurance background required. In-depth knowledge of self-insured programs strongly desired, but not required.
  • Demonstrated exposure to sourcing, strategic selection, negotiating and managing the insurance procurement process.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities

  • Possess excellent business judgment, executive presence, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
