Taylor Chenery, Lauren Gaffney and Anna Grizzle

Taylor Chenery is a member at Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. He centers his practice on government compliance and investigations and related litigation, focusing on issues of health care fraud and abuse. He has significant experience representing a wide variety of health care clients in responding to governmental investigations and defending False Claims Act lawsuits. Taylor also has significant experience in complex commercial litigation matters, ranging from class action lawsuits to private arbitrations.

Lauren Gaffney is a member at Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. Lauren analyzes and counsels hospital systems, long-term care providers, physician groups, laboratories and other health care providers on the regulatory requirements and operational impacts related to day-to-day operations, including those related to fraud and abuse. Lauren also focuses on internal investigations, which involve responding to governmental inquiries regarding potential regulatory, compliance and clinical issues.

Recognizing that the landscape of health care law is constantly changing, Lauren advises clients on business decisions related to delivering superior patient care within a heavily regulated industry. Her experience includes former positions as operations counsel intern for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA inc.) and as an intern for Vanderbilt University Risk and Insurance Management.

Anna Grizzle is a member at Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. With over 20 years of experience, Anna helps health care clients address enforcement and compliance issues and respond to legal and regulatory violations. With significant experience in defending against statistical sampling and extrapolation and claims denials in Medicare and Medicaid claims audits, Anna also has saved health care companies tens of millions of dollars in potential overpayment demands. She also advises health care companies on regulatory and compliance matters, including transactions involving mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and dispositions.

Representing national hospitals, health systems, hospices, ambulatory surgery centers and a variety of other health care providers, laboratories and DMEPOS suppliers from many industry sectors, Anna’s practice involves government enforcement and compliance; health care fraud and abuse; contracting, regulatory and operational matters; mergers and acquisitions; and health care disputes.
