Robert Teachout

Robert Teachout is Legal Editor at XpertHR. He covers a range of employment law and human resources topics at the federal, state and municipal levels, with a focus on the intersection of compliance with HR strategy and practice.

Robert was the principal writer and editor of the State Wage Assignment and Garnishment Handbook. He also has written articles for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and has been quoted by HR Bartender. Actively involved in the HR profession, Robert is a member of SHRM at both the national and local levels, and gives back to the profession by serving on the communications team of his local chapter.

Robert has more than 25 years’ experience in legal publishing. Before joining XpertHR, he was the senior HR editor at Thompson Information Services. In this role, he was responsible for managing digital and print employment law publications covering a variety of topics, such as FMLA, ADA, federal and state leave laws, EEO issues, and employee handbook issues. Prior to that he was the primary editor of Bloomberg BNA’s State Labor Laws binders. He also served as a union unit leader and shop steward in the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild (WBNG) of the Communications Workers of America (CWA).
