Julie Rizzo is an attorney at Parker Poe. Julie focuses her practice on securities law compliance and corporate governance and brings a unique perspective to her clients, having worked for a leading technology company, a federal regulator and a Big Four accounting firm.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Julie served as corporate counsel for Red Hat. Julie was a member of the corporate legal group and served as Red Hat’s in-house securities lawyer. She was a member of the legal team that navigated the company through its $34 billion acquisition by IBM and was responsible for Red Hat’s securities law compliance and managing acquisition-related communications. During her tenure at Red Hat, she also worked closely with the finance and marketing teams on a broad range of corporate communications and the human resources team on internal investigations.
Julie is a former attorney-advisor for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. As an attorney-advisor in the SEC's Division of Corporate Finance, she reviewed Securities Act and Exchange Act filings for compliance with disclosure requirements, assisted in rulemakings related to asset-backed securities and participated for three seasons on the Shareholder Proposal Task Force.
Earlier in her career, Julie served as a staff accountant for PwC, auditing clients in industries that included technology, real estate, and education.
Doug Harmon is an attorney at Parker Poe. Doug leads the firm’s Securities & Corporate Governance Group and its Public Company Growth & Compliance Group and co-leads the Governance, Risk & Compliance Group. With more than 30 years of experience, he represents domestic and international public and private entities in a full array of capital markets and finance, merger and acquisition, securities compliance and corporate governance, risk and compliance matters. The Compliance Certification Board has accredited him as an Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP and CCEP-International)®.
Doug has worked with clients from a wide range of industries, including energy, financial services, manufacturing, retail, sports and entertainment and technology.
He has been honored as one of Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America in Securities Law since 2007 and is a member of the Energy Bar Association.
