Jon Umarov
Jon Umarov is an Associate at The Volkov Law Group. Jon assists clients to design and implement anti-corruption controls to minimize risk and monitor their anti-corruption compliance programs. He represents clients in all facets of FCPA investigations and enforcement actions, whether proactive or reactive, and helps clients assess the risk of a possible enforcement action. He also assists clients with internal investigations focusing on both factual and legal issues, developing an investigative plan, and implementing the plan in an efficient manner.
Fluent in Russian and Uzbek, Jon has conducted internal investigations into allegations of violations of the FCPA on behalf of multinational corporations. His work has included obtaining documents in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and various Central European and Central Asian countries, reviewing voluminous paper and electronic document productions and drafting investigative reports. He has also conducted FCPA due diligence investigations in former Soviet Union countries in connection with potential client acquisition and has reviewed clients’ FCPA compliance procedures and internal controls.
