Vendor-connected author policy

Policy on vendor-connected authors

Contributed content from authors who work for vendors in the GRC industry may be considered for publication in adherence with the following policy:

  • Author qualifications: We prioritize contributions from compliance, ethics or corporate integrity professionals, including chief compliance officers, risk managers, HR executives, C-suite executives, board directors, general counsels, regulatory attorneys or authors who formerly filled these roles. Submissions from marketing, sales or product teams will not be considered.
  • Content guidelines: Vendor-connected authors must refrain from making sales or marketing pitches, their work must be free of promotional messaging, and they must maintain neutrality regarding solutions. Authors should avoid writing about subjects directly related to products they sell, even if the content is otherwise neutral. For example, the CEO of a company that sells GRC automation software should not author an article in which automation is positioned as the only or best solution to a compliance problem, even when the product is not referenced by name. Persuasive articles and opinion columns are permitted but must adhere to these guidelines. We do not publish content marketing.
  • Conflict of interest: CCI editors disclose relevant advertising relationships in articles written by vendor-connected authors. Here’s an example of such a disclosure.
  • External links: Authors should refrain from linking to their company’s webpages, except when citing specific data. One link to a company page is permissible within the author’s bio if desired.
  • Editorial discretion: CCI reserves the right to reject or edit submissions that do not align with these guidelines. We maintain high standards for all published content to ensure relevance, accuracy and diversity of perspectives. Exceptions may be made to this policy on a case-by-case basis.
