GRC conference examines impact of blockchain, cybersecurity audits, more
Altamonte Springs, FL (June 16, 2016) — Changes in technology and the volatile pace of business pose ever-growing challenges for professionals whose craft is identifying, mitigating and providing assurance on risk. From smart refrigerators hacked to send out spam email to blockchain accounting tools that offer fresh ground for fraudsters to scheme, new business perils seem to arise with each new day.
To help governance, risk and control professionals keep pace with these emerging challenges and others, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ISACA are co-hosting the 2016 Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) Conference, August 22-24 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The conference, which brings together practitioners from around the world, will offer expert-led workshops and opportunities to network with global professionals and industry leaders. From a panel on COSO updates to sessions on blockchain’s GRC implications and cybersecurity audits, the event will feature more than 50 sessions in four tracks:
- Cyber: Risks, Controls and Probabilities
- IT Audit Core Principles
- Internal Audit – Personal Brand Enhancement Strategies
- Internal Audit Core Skills Refinement
“Auditors and other GRC professionals are key contributors to the overall health and stability of an organization,” said Theresa Grafenstine, CISA, CGEIT, CRISC, CIA, CGAP, CGMA, CPA, board member of ISACA and the inspector general of the U.S. House of Representatives (House). “This conference will help attendees stay abreast of emerging trends and the latest solutions, tools and technologies impacting the profession.”
The GRC Conference will offer new insights and perspectives from renowned presenters, including keynote speakers:
- Theresa Payton, former White House CIO, cybersecurity authority and expert on identity theft and the internet of things, who will deliver the opening keynote, titled: “Big Data and the Internet of Things: Boon or Bust for Your Cybersecurity Efforts?”
