UW Medicine based in Seattle, Washington has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist in the recruitment of candidates for the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). The CCO will provide overall direction of the UW Medicine compliance program in support of the mission and strategic goals of UW Medicine. This position will report directly to Paul Ramsey, M.D., CEO, UW Medicine, Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine of the University of Washington. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers and work closely with senior leadership in realizing its overall goals and objectives centered on innovative healthcare delivery. The position will become vacant because of the planned retirement of the incumbent, who has been part of the system for 10 years.

This executive position is a mission-critical role dedicated to the continued integration of a coordinated compliance program serving the needs of a growing organization committed to improving the health of the public. The new CCO will continue to develop and oversee an enterprise-wide compliance program to support UW Medicine. The CCO will play a critical role in proactively developing and optimizing relationships throughout the organization, continuing to maintain a culture that actively seeks compliance input to further optimize UW Medicine’s day-to-day operations.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, policy administration, health administration or closely related field, while an advanced degree is preferred. Certification in healthcare compliance (CHC, CHC-F, CHRC and/or CCEP) is preferred. In addition, candidates must have an outstanding record of achievement with at least ten (10) years experience in healthcare and knowledge of all elements of corporate compliance in relationship to practice plan management and healthcare delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations and finance. Prior experience in an academic medical center or complex integrated healthcare delivery system is strongly desired. The successful candidate will also be a transparent and collaborative leader, comfortable leading and supporting change in a complex environment.
