Brian Klemm – Senior Counsel and Corporate Compliance Officer at SAS Institute Inc.
Brian Klemm is Senior Counsel, Corporate Compliance Officer and Chief Privacy Officer of SAS Institute Inc., a leading global provider of business analytics software and the largest independent vendor in the business intelligence market.
Prior to joining SAS in 1999, Mr. Klemm was Senior Counsel of AMP Incorporated, a publicly traded manufacturer of electronic devices based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he had responsibility for general corporate, commercial, international trade and transactional matters. Mr. Klemm also served as Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Quantum Chemical Corporation’s Suburban Propane division in Whippany, New Jersey, where he provided legal counsel for all facets of the business, including various corporate, commercial, litigation, employment and transactional matters, with a strong emphasis in M&A work.
Other positions include providing tax counsel and related legislative support for AT&T, and private practice in New Jersey where he handled general civil litigation and arbitration in commercial, labor and employment law cases.
Mr. Klemm received his legal education at New York University where he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree, and at Seton Hall Law School where he earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. He is admitted to the bars of the States of New Jersey and North Carolina, as well as the District of Columbia, and is licensed to practice in various federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a Certified Mediator in Superior Court Civil Actions for the State of North Carolina, and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Mr. Klemm is the founder and past President of the Research Triangle Area Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. He has served as Chair, Vice Chair and on the Executive Committee of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of North Carolina Society of Healthcare Attorneys, Inc. Mr. Klemm has published in the area of intellectual property law and insurance coverage.
