Karen D. Wilson, J.D., CCEP, is Managing Partner of Citadel Compliance Group LLC, a compliance program consulting firm founded in 2008.
Karen Wilson is a seasoned business attorney with 24 years experience practicing law and managing corporate Compliance & Ethics programs. From 2004-2008, Wilson was Senior Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer for Affiliated Computer Services, a U.S. global outsourcing company. Ms. Wilson managed the Office of Legal Compliance and was responsible compliance with laws and regulations that apply to ACS’ businesses and 60,000 employees. Wilson reported to the Audit Committee of the ACS Board of Directors.
Before that, Ms. Wilson was Deputy General Counsel of First Data Corporation and served for 11 years in senior Legal and Compliance roles. Wilson oversaw delivery of corporate Legal and Compliance services and was a subject matter expert in Antibribery, Data Privacy, Intellectual Property and Bank Secrecy Act compliance. She helped architect the company’s early enterprise risk management program. Prior to joining FDC, Ms. Wilson was General Counsel for a large Midwestern manufacturer and in private practice with a focus on banking, credit card securitization, and consumer credit.
Ms. Wilson is a 1982 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Nebraska with a BA degree in English. She earned her Juris Doctor degree magna cum laude in 1985 from Creighton University School of Law, where she was Alpha Sigma Nu Honorary and Editor-in-Chief of the Creighton Law Review. She has authored numerous articles and spoken at Compliance and Legal conferences, including Compliance Week (2007), Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics (2008), and Healthcare Compliance Association (2009). She is a member of the Nebraska and Texas State Bar Associations and is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional.
In her spare time, Ms. Wilson is a freelance writer and a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer. She also donates time to pro bono legal services. Ms. Wilson and her husband Michael are Nebraska natives and live in Dallas, Texas.
