CCI Twitter Account Ranked #2 Most Influential for “Compliance” and “Governance”

We interrupt our regularly scheduled news and knowledge sharing about governance, risk, and compliance for a quick announcement that we are very proud of (and that should, hopefully, make your Twitter experience more productive).

According to the website WeFollow.com, the Twitter account for Corporate Compliance Insights (cci_compliance) is ranked #2 for the terms “compliance” and “governance” in terms of overall influence. Additionally, CCI’s Twitter account is ranked #4 for the term “ethics”.

The following screen shots were taken from WeFollow.com on January 14th, 2010 at 1:00 pm:

WeFollow.com was founded by Digg founder and social media legend Kevin Rose, and was recently acquired formally by the real-time news giant. Here is an explanation from Tech Crunch as to how WeFollow.com calculates influence (as it is not formally announced on the site itself):

WeFollow is also changing the way it ranks users. Currently it’s based only on total follower counts on Twitter. In the next day or so, though, WeFollow will change its algorithm and give more weight to users who tag themselves properly, and then have followers who have also tagged themselves similarly. For examply, if TechCrunch is tagged “startups” and a lot of people following TechCrunch have also tagged themselves startups, that gives a lot more weight to our account in that category. This goal is to reduce spam and give better data.

We are obviously very excited to be second for the two most important terms that describe our content here at CCI. Influence is far more important than volume of followers, and we look forward to continuing to build a relevant and engaged group of Twitter followers.

For our current followers, we do want to pose an important question, and we encourage you to use the comment section, send us a tweet, or reply via email.
