Michael Bradfield Appointed General Counsel at FDIC by Chairman Sheila Blair
The Wall Street Journal is reporting today that Michael Bradfield has been named the new general counsel at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Bradfield, described as a “seasoned Washington hand” was picked to be the new FDIC general counsel by chairman Sheila Blair, who said in a statement:
“His depth of knowledge of domestic and international banking issues as well as his extensive expertise at the Federal Reserve Board and the U.S. Treasury will serve the FDIC well at a critical time.”
Michael Bradfield was previously a lawyer at Jones Day in Washington. His past experience includes:
- 1981-1989: general counsel at the Federal Reserve, serving under Paul Volcker and Alan Gree
nspan. - 1968-1975: assistant general counsel at the Treasury Department.
Michael Bradfield is a graduate of Union College and received his Masters in International Affairs at Columbia University. He is described in his official profile at JonesDay.com as having “extensive experience in legal aspects of U.S. and non-U.S. banking and monetary matters. His special areas of practice also include balance of payments and trade and development assistance, including U.S. participation in the international development banks.”
