Job Description

Manages the compliance processes and systems for customer related awards, grants, donations and professional service agreements (consulting, assignment, license, etc.), including Awards & Grants and Professional Service Agreements (customer related). Provides leadership and direction to assigned staff members and contractors within the Compliance Department.

1.  Practically applies current ethical statutes, laws, policies, codes and corporate policies as they relate to awards and grants, consulting agreements, and other account programs/issues.

2. Provides supervisory management of grants and contracts processes. Assists with the incorporation into processes, procedures & systems various corporate, legal & ethical statutes, industry association guidelines, and advisory opinions. Makes recommendations for changes to policies related to same.

3. Provides advice and support to contract managers and attorneys throughout the contracting processes, including initial negotiations with proposed consultants, preparation on contract documents, re-work of requested changes & exceptions to standard template language and/or policy.

4. Provides leadership and counsel to internal employees, field sales personnel and customers, and other grant requestors concerning requests for awards, grants, contributions and donations. Conducts briefings to contract managers through participation in their regular operational unit meetings.

5. Oversees preparation, review & implementation of contract templates to include language to meet current internal processes, policies and compliance provisions. Trains and directs internal personnel on contract template content and appropriate utilization of all templates.

6. Oversees assigned analysts’ review of payment requests for specific study agreements and grants, providing guidance concerning acceptable and non-acceptable documentation within work documents.

7. Conducts compliance review of electronic and paper consultant records, preparation of audit reports, and provides recommendations for improvement to division/department contract management teams.

8. Serves as back-up corporate contract systems administrator, including management, oversight and evaluation of same, making changes or recommending improvements to ensure compliance with corporate policies.

9. As a member of the Compliance Committee, works with Legal, and the Compliance Review Board, to develop and implement effective policies and procedures to ensure compliance with AdvaMed compliance accreditation, EucoMed, and all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Assists with compliance investigations, as required.

10. Develops, coordinates and manages division compliance education and training program. Develops training materials and test questions. Serves as instructor of compliance related material.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Six (6) years related experience, with four (4) years in a contract compliance leadership role.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Outlook.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Excellent mathematical skills. Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare (medical device) industry regulations, codes, statues.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain and enforce regulations, rules and processes.
  • Good negotiation/facilitation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
